Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission

People assume that no specific control over websites and blogs on the internet is not true because of all the activities over the net are subject to the country laws. There are many laws that can be enforced for offenses committed through internet medium. The internet as a medium of communication can be used for various purposes, whether for business, sharing and provide information or provide medium for internet users to interact with each other. 

Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission is one of the agency that enforced the law on internet offences. MCMC responsible to give an instructions to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission on matters relating to investigating, and to conduct prosecution in court to ensure that those who commit offences under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 [Act 588], Digital Signature Act 1997 [Act 562] and Postal Services Act 1991 [Act 465] are punished in accordance with law so that national and public interest are well protected. 

In the case of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Azmin Ali. He was  investigated under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 [Act 588]. The process of investigating take 3 hour until the process is done. There were 51 questions posed to him about the video with the title "Program Tukar Ke Orang Melayu" (Project IC By Mahathir).

Generally, MCMC's functions are to supervise, coordinate and give instructions regarding investigation papers relating to the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588], Digital Signature Act 1997 [Act 562] and Postal Services Act 1991 [Act 465]; MCMC also responsible to give consent to prosecute cases under the above laws; besides that to conduct prosecution for offences under the above laws and to give any information and feed back required by the Commission.
