EC reprints book version of electoral roll after corrections

KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) has reprinted the electoral roll following the discovery of errors in the identity numbers of early voters, its secretary Datuk Kamaruddin Mohamed Bariasaid.

He said the mistakes involved only 572 of the 272,387 early voters nationwide and the corrected version has been distributed to the returning officers and candidates through the state election offices.

"We will also write to the political party leaders on the matter to ensure the same version is used by the candidates, their agents and EC personnel at the early polling centres," he said in a statement here. Kamaruddin said the mistake only affected the electoral roll in book form and not the CD, EC website, the 13th General Election portal or the short-messaging-system (sms).

"The data in these systems are correct and show that the voters identity information are the same as in the EC's electoral roll database," he said.
