Govt launches roadmap for direct selling industry





KUALA LUMPUR: A roadmap has been launched for the direct selling industry to help it develop further and increase its contribution to the economy.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said the action plan would act as a "game changer" for the industry currently valued at RM10bil.
"The action plan, which starts next year and ends 2020, comprises of three phases.
"It aims to improve human capital development, strengthen the delivery system and regulations as well as enhance the industry's reputation and performance," he said when launching the roadmap here Tuesday.
He also announced that a Direct Selling Award would be introduced from next year to recognise the industry's contribution to the economy.
Under the plan, the industry is expected to double its total annual sales turnover from RM10bil to RM20bil by 2020.
