2,500 students receive aid from Yayasan Sabah

SANDAKAN: Yayasan Sabah Group (YSG)  here  has  provided a  RM50,000  allocation   annually under the Special Contribution Scheme to help less fortunate children in north east coast of the state.
According to its chief administrator, Hajah Rosinah Haji Abdul Moin, the contribution which began in 2007 had
benefited around 2,500 students in ten constituencies in the Sandakan, Kinabatangan and Beluran districts. The constituencies involved are Tanjung Papat, Elopura, Karamunting, Sekong, Sungai Sibuga, Gum-Gum, Labuk, Sugut, Sukau and Kuamut.
“Fifty  primary  and  secondary school students  are selected from each constituency to receive the aid of RM100 for their school expenses.
The selected eligible students would only receive the aid once so as to enable YSG to disburse the same kind of aid to other needy students for the following year.
“We  only  select  the  less  fortunate students from the respective areas as we know the aid will help reduce their parents’ burden, especially for school expenses,” she said after the presentation of aid to 50 less fortunate students at Tanjung Papat mini hall in Rumah Murah Sim-Sim yesterday.
The aid was presented by Tanjung Papat assemblyman Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah, who is also the Minister of Industrial Development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Raymond said that parents play vital roles in the development of their children’s mind.
Besides, giving their full commitment and cooperation to the teachers and schools, parents should also foster a healthy competitive attitude in their children’s lives, he said.
