1,000 residents of Kg. Rompon enjoy proper road

TAMBUNAN: The 1,000 residents of Kg Rompon can now enjoy a proper road after the completion of the upgrading road project in the village.
Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) chairman, Lajiun Gunting said the road, about 10 kilometres long, cost aboutRM18 million and was fully asphalted two months ago.
He said the upgrading project not only demonstrated the government’s attentiveness to the people’s needs but also provides convenience to the villagers who have suffered the problems of an unpaved road all these years especially during the rainy season.
A villager, Majakui Lunggat, 70, said previously, some villagers had to walk in order to carry their crops to sell during the rainy season as the road was not in good condition and slippery as well.
“But now the villagers won’t have problems as the road connecting the village to the main road towards Tambunan has been upgraded,” he said when met during the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Outreach Programme closing ceremony at Kg Rompon on Sunday.
