Youth wings told to woo young voters

13th January, 2013

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional Youth wing must identify young voters to convince them to vote for the ruling party as the general election nears.
Its state chief Datuk Awang Kadin Tang said the wings must be able to map out their plans to woo the young voters especially those who are casting their votes for the first time.
“The first step is to identify their location and go to them. Our election machinery must have the necessary information and data for us to carry out this task,” he said.
According to him, for those who are not residing in their hometown as they might be working elsewhere, youth members must be able to communicate with them so that they would return home to cast their vote.
“Our election machinery must be oiled by now and the real work starts now,” he said at a gathering with State BN Youth wings from Keningau, Tenom and Pensiangan here yesterday.
Present were Keningau Upko youth chief Kenedy Datuk John Angian, and youth leaders from the three districts.
Awang Kadin said that it was important that youth wings in these three areas ensure that BN would win resoundingly in the elections.
“We must work even harder from now on. Barisan Nasional is a base for all communities including the Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM),” he said.
