KUALA LUMPUR: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) will provide
contributors who undergo physical and vocational rehabilitation under
the 'Return To Work' programme with a RM20 daily allowance, effective
March 1.
Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam said the scheme was to encourage Insured Persons who were not eligible
for benefit payments under the Disability Pension Scheme or Employment
Injury Insurance Scheme to join the programme.
"The physical and
vocational rehabilitation facilities are provided free of charge by
Socso which will also reimburse the transport costs involved," he said
in a statement on Saturday.
Dr Subramaniam said those who
qualified for the allowance included disability pension scheme
applicants who had been certified by Socso's panel doctors to be free of
any disability but who had been advised to undergo rehabilitation.
"Apart from that they must have lost their job due to an illness or
incapability, or were still in service but were not receiving any
salary," he said.
Dr Subramaniam said Socso had set aside
RM1.8mil for the rehabilitation allowance and since the 'Return to Work'
programme was introduced in 2007, 6,439 workers had been able to resume
working. Bernama
