Semporna: The government has identified an area of 25 hectares to build a sports complex here, said Minister in the Chief Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran.
He said the proposal has been submitted for consideration under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP).
"There is a vital need for such sports complex to be erected here to enhance development of sport as well as to accommodate other sports activities like futsal which is becoming popular among the local youths here," he said.
Nasir, who is also Senallang Assemblyman, said this when officiating at a closed door futsal tournament at district level organised by Youth and Sports Ministry, Semporna District and with cooperation of People's Development Leader for Senallang Unit here, on Monday.
More than 70 futsal teams took part in the tournament offering the Datuk Seri Nasir Challenging Trophy.
