2013 BUDGET: There's something for everyone

.
Prime Miniser Datuk Seri Najib Razak recognises the contributions of civil servants.
To be granted half a month's bonus would have been a joy to many, but getting a full month is good news for me.
Never, in my wildest dream after working for 31 years in the public sector, would I have imagined getting a 11/2-month bonus.
This is the first time that civil servants have been aptly rewarded.
Civil servants play an important role in charting the course of the nation.
We serve the government and we appreciate that the PM has recognised our contributions.
The way the bonus was rewarded reflects the 1Malaysian concept. He has taken care of all the major races.
The first bonus in August was given out to ease the burden of Muslims celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Now, the year-end bonus coincides with three festivals, namely Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year, as well as the start of the 2013 school term.
Although the bonus will be received after Deepavali, it is heartwarming to know that there will be money coming in December.
At least, Hindus can look forward to a grander Deepavali.
As for Christians, the money will be there for the taking, and so would the Chinese as the payment in January will be of use for Chinese New Year.
This year's budget is definitely people-friendly and it's going to benefit everyone across the board. Of course, there will be detractors who will question everything that the government does, but as long as promises are delivered and the people are happy, it will be appreciated by the majority.
Although the budget seems enticing, we must accept the fact that it's the right of the government to reward the people, if it can afford it.
The prime minister, who is also the finance minister, thinks it is viable. People, young and old, the upper class, middle class and even the poor were not left out. There is something for everybody.
Call it what you will, what is most important is the interest of the country and the people is taken care.
