Guangdong province keen to cooperate with Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: China’s Guangdong province is keen to establish future cooperation in tourism, education and human resource development as well as sister relations with Sabah.
Chairman of Guangdong Provincial Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Guangzhou, Mr Huang Longyun, disclosed this during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman at his official residence in Sri Gaya yesterday.
“Sabah and Guangdong are compatible in terms of lifestyle and culture. We hope to establish relations so that we can carry out long-term cooperation with Sabah,” Huang said.
Musa said there has been much interest in Sabah from China as of late.
“Both the governments of China and Malaysia have cordial and excellent relations, contributed mainly by past and present leaders of both countries.
“This good relations has paved the way for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries,” he said.
The Chief Minister added Guangdong was welcome to invest in the tourism, agriculture and manufacturing sectors, including downstream processing of oil palm via the Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) set up in the east coast of Sabah.
“People from China will find Sabah familiar because we have a sizeable community of Malaysian Chinese here. Despite of our ethnic diversity, we are able to live in peace and harmony,” he pointed out.
