Pemimpin Kemajuan Rakyat Perlu Sentiasa Turun Padang-Musa

 

KOTA KINABALU, 20 Ogos- Ketua Menteri Datuk Seri Musa Aman meminta semua Pemimpin Kemajuan Rakyat (PKR) yang baharu dilantik di negeri ini supaya sentiasa turun padang untuk mendengar masalah dan keperluan rakyat kerana kegagalan berbuat demikian akan mengundang kemarahan rakyat.

"Jangan malas melawat kampung atau mendekati rakyat, kerana inilah antara punca rakyat peringkat akar umbi marah kalau kita tidak melawat kawasan masing-masing," katanya.

Musa berkata demikian ketika menyampaikan amanat kepada seramai 48 orang PKR yang sebelum itu mengangkat sumpah jawatan di hadapan beliau di Wisma Innoprise, Likas, dekat sini Selasa.

Turut hadir pada majlis angkat sumpah itu ialah Timbalan Ketua Menteri Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman, menteri-menteri dan pembantu-pembantu menteri.

""Oleh itu, adalah penting bagi semua PKR dan wakil rakyat sentiasa turun padang di kawasan mereka.

"Sekiranya kita tidak melawat di pelosok kampung, maka apa juga masalah yang timbul di kawasan itu, kita tidak akan tahu sehingga menyebabkan rakyat hilang kepercayaan kepada kita yang telah memberikan mandat dan kepercayaan kepada kita (pada pilihan raya umum yang lepas)," katanya.

Musa yang juga Pengerusi Barisan Nasional (BN) negeri berkata PKR merupakan mata dan telinga kepada kerajaan dan wakil rakyat di kawasan masing-masing.

Beliau turut menekankan betapa pentingnya hubungan baik antara PKR dan wakil rakyat bagi memastikan segala masalah dapat dibincangkan dan diselesaikan bersama.

Musa berkata jawatan PKR bukan satu keistimewaan tetapi diiringi dengan satu tanggungjawab besar.

"Tanggungjawab dan peranan PKR ini penting untuk bekerjasama memastikan apa juga program, projek pembangunan dan dasar-dasar kerajaan dapat disalurkan kepada rakyat di peringkat akar umbi supaya rakyat secara keseluruhannya mendapat manfaat daripadanya," katanya.

Beliau berkata kerajaan BN diberikan mandat oleh rakyat kerana mereka percaya kerajaan BN dapat membela nasib mereka.

"Mereka percaya kita boleh menjalankan tugas dengan baik dan membawa perubahan yang boleh memberi manfaat kepada rakyat secara keseluruhannya," katanya.

Musa juga mahu semua pemimpin termasuk PKR sentiasa berwaspada terhadap apa sahaja anasir tidak bertanggungjwab yang cuba melemparkan pelbagai fitnah terhadap kerajaan BN dan wakil rakyat yang mewakili kawasan masing-masing.

"Adalah menjadi tanggungjawab PKR untuk menepis segala fitnah daripada pihak tidak bertanggungjawab agar rakyat tidak keliru dengan fakta-fakta yang diputarbelitkan," katanya.

Berikutan senario politik yang sudah berubah, Musa meminta semua PKR supaya meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang pengggunaan teknologi maklumat (ICT).

"Dengan kecanggihan teknologi maklumat dan komunikasi (ICT), pelbagai saluran termasuk laman sosial seperti Facebook dan Twitter digunakan oleh pihak tidak bertanggungjawab untuk mengelirukan rakyat dengan apa yang telah dilakukan oleh kerajaan. Kerjasama Kerajaan Persekutuan dan Negeri Mampu Kurangkan Masalah PATI-Pairin

KOTA KINABALU, 15 Ogos- Timbalan Ketua Menteri Sabah Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan yakin kerjasama serta antara kerajaan Persekutuan dan kerajaan negeri dapat mengurangkan masalah kebanjiran pendatang asing tanpa izin (PATI) ke negeri itu.

Menurutnya, kerjasama itu penting kerana jabatan Polis dan Imigresen adalah di bawah kuasa kerajaan persekutuan yang boleh membantu mencegah kedatangan pendatang asing tanpa izin ke negeri itu terutama dari Filipina dan Indonesia.

Selain itu, bekas ketua menteri Sabah itu berkata kerajaan Persekutuan mempunyai kuasa politik bagi menggerakkan penguatkuasaan undang-undang bagi mengekang masalah itu.

"Sepanjang menjadi Ketua Menteri Sabah saya sudah berusaha sedaya upaya bagi mengatasi masalah kedatangan pendatang asing terbabit tetapi tidak berjaya tanpa kerjasama erat kerajaan Persekutuan.

"Rakyat Sabah ketika itu amat bimbang dengan isu kedatangan pendatang asing ini kerana ia menggugat kedudukan ekonomi dan keselamatan awam tempatan," katanya ketika memberi keterangan kepada Suruhanjaya Siasatan Diraja (RCI) Mengenai Pendatang Asing Di Sabah di sini Khamis.

Pairin berkata rakyat negeri itu mahu keselamatan dan ketenteraman mereka terjamin serta isu pendatang asing tanpa izin terutama dari Filipina dapat diselesaikan dengan segera.

Justeru, katanya beliau memberikan beberapa cadangan bertulis tentang isu berkenaan untuk diatasi kerajaan Persekutuan kepada perdana menteri ketika itu, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Menurutnya, atas kesedaran tentang jaminan keselamatan penduduk Sabah juga mendorong Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) menyertai semula Barisan Nasional (BN).

Pairin, yang juga merupakan saksi ke 199, berkata rakyat Sabah mahukan pembangunan tetapi dalam masa sama mereka mahu hidup dalam keadaan aman, selamat dan tenteram.

Sementara itu, seorang lagi saksi, Datu Akjan Datu Ali Muhammad, seorang ahli perniagaan, memberitahu prosiding bahawa pendatang asing tanpa izin yang bekerja di Sabah patut diberi dokumen sementara supaya pergerakkan mereka dapat dikawal oleh pihak berkuasa.

"Pihak penguatkuasa boleh mengambil tindakan tegas sekiranya mereka melanggar undang-undang dan peraturan di negeri ini, " katanya.BERNAMA

Unity, the Foundations of Stability-Musa

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has called on the people to not only strengthen their ties among Muslims, but with Malaysians from all walks of life through the practice of exchanging greetings at open houses.

Sabah has prospered along with the rest of Malaysia and achieved progress in many fields, leading to higher quality of life for its people, Musa said.

“Our determination to strive for excellence and a population made up of diverse backgrounds are some factors that have led to Malaysia’s growth.

“Through our combined knowledge and experience, we will achieve more in the future. We must strengthen unity, work with each another and respect one another even when differences in opinions emerge,” the Chief Minister said in his message in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya celebration.

Musa, who is also Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman, lamented that some irresponsible quarters had set out to destroy what we have built, saying things that are hurtful to fellow Malaysians.

In expressing or discussing opinions, he advised the people to be mindful of the fact that they are living in a multi-racial country and that the harmony they have enjoyed for so long should never be compromised.

“Unity is one of the foundations of the stability we have today and I call on us all to always respect and support each other.

“We are indeed all Malaysians and I hope we will all continue to reflect on this and subscribe to 1Malaysia, the brainchild of our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, who sincerely wants to bring this country to greater heights,” he said.

According to Musa, both the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and Government Transformation Programme (GTP) have been showing results and together with the 10th Malaysia Plan, the government remains committed to reaching its projected goals within the respective time frames given for each initiative.

The Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) and the State Development Agenda, or Halatuju, are also on track to achieve their respective targets, he added.

In addition, Musa said the Federal Government has embarked on other initiatives under the 1Malaysia banner in order to address a range of issues from affordable housing to better healthcare and to address the prices of daily consumer items.

He pointed out that the Annual Salary Increment (KGT) had been carried out twice this year, with the most recent in July, by both the Federal and State governments.

“I am confident that the Federal Government will come up with more initiatives that will positively impact the people in the near future. The Barisan Nasional government is one that truly cares for the people,” Musa said.

With the general election fever now over, he said the time has come to move on and he called on all political parties to close ranks, work together and to cut down on politicking which wastes time and energy.

Musa also pointed out that Sabah has many positive traits that the people can leverage on.

“Our finances are well managed, our economy is growing and we also pay focus on environmental initiatives as we acknowledge that our biodiversity cannot and must not be taken for granted.

“For Sabah to keep progressing within a sustainably managed economy, we cannot be complacent. We must all join hands,” he said, adding that while rejoicing during this celebration, we must also remember the less fortunate.

Musa also thanked the Armed Forces, police and other security agencies for their services in safeguarding the State and reminded the people to put the unfortunate intrusion earlier this year in Lahad Datu behind them.

“I am confident that we will not see a repeat. Innocent lives were lost in the line of duty and we are forever indebted to those who were sacrificed during the incident,” he added.Borneo Post

‘BN manifesto a promising prosperity pledge’

TAWAU:Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has described the Barisan Nasional’s ‘Akujanji’ (‘I promise’) 

manifesto launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Saturday as a promising prosperity pledge for the Malaysian people.

“It is comprehensive and will benefit every strata of the Malaysian society, whether urban or rural, the elderly, the young, or women. No one is left out.

“I believe this is what the people want. God-willing, it will further motivate those who support the BN. They know that the BN led by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would keep its promise,” he said.

On the construction of the 2,300-kilometre Semantan Sarawak-Serudong Tawau highway as proposed in the BN manifesto, he said it would create a major impact on the people particularly farmers along the route.

In Kuching, Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) president Tan Sri William Mawan said the manifesto was realistic as it was within the BN coalition’s ability to deliver its promises.

Mawan, who is also state Social Development Minister, said he never doubted the BN’s commitment to continue narrowing the regional disparity between Sarawak and Sabah with states in the peninsula in the next five years.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy information chief Datuk Peter Minos said BN was on the right footing by dedicating itself to really going out to improve all aspects of life among the rural people, not just because they were generally pro BN but because it was good to see both urban and rural populace moving up in tandem together.

“Given the political will and given a caring and concerned prime minister, I am confident that BN will think and do more for the struggling rural people in the years to come,” said Minos, who is also former Dayak Bidayuh National Association president.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Kayan Association (SKA) deputy president, Dennis Ngau, today said the manifesto covered the crucial needs of everyone, regardless of their racial backgrounds or localities.

“No reason why we cannot rejoice from this manifesto. We are from a small ethnic group but we are also included. This manifesto pledged the continuation and improvement to the existing touch points projects that should be supported by all,” he said.

Sarawak Bisaya Association (SBA) president, Antonio Kahti Galis, described the manifesto as being well-thought and placing great emphasis on education excellence.

“The pledge to improve the standard of the Pan-Borneo road that linked Sabah and Sarawak would also help to connect people who stayed in smaller settlements along the way,” he said.

Persatuan Anaq Vaie, an association representing the ethnic Melanau in Bintulu, welcomed the BN pledge to prioritise the development of better roads in Sarawak.

“In every election, the Pan-Borneo road (upgrading) had always been the issue and for the first time BN put it clearly that it will be what they will pursue once they get the mandate from the government,” its adviser, Pandi Suhaili said.

In George Town, Penang, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) associate prof Dr Sivamurugan Pandian viewed the BN manifesto as not a rhetoric pledge but a well laid out and comprehensive plan for the future.

Penang Malay Association president Datuk Seri Mohd Yussof Latiff said the BN manifesto did not only reflect its leaders’ concern for the people but also its earnestness to maintain the country’s accomplishments.

In Terengganu, Engku Nurul Aima Tengku Amri, 26, who is doing her practical training after following a course for unemployed graduates last year, expressed cheer upon hearing that the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) had been increased from RM500 to RM1,200 for the next five years.

“I am glad that the prime minister has also announced that 3.3 million jobs will be offered including two million in the high income sector in the next five years,” she said.

Trader Wan Mohamad Hazman Wan Ramli, 42, said the BN’s assurance to review the National Automotive Policy and reduce vehicle prices by 20 to 30 percent was good news for the people as such transportation had become a family necessity.

“Similarly, the 500,000 proposed affordable homes would be a ray of sunshine for the lower and middle income group,” he said.

Refreshment hawker Faramasliani Mohd Yassin, 31, noted the BN government’s sincerity in wanting to improve the wellbeing of the people, “compared to the opposition’s manifesto which held doubtful promises”.

Another hawker Nordin Mohamad, 52, said the people were fortunate that the BN government had provided various facilites for their need.

“I am certainly satisfied with the BN manifesto,” said Nordin who with his wife Cik Wook Abdullah, 52, and family live in a house provided under the hardcore poor housing programme in Kampung Bukit Tok Ris, Bukit Tunggal here. — Bernama

Manifesto BN Merupakan Aku Janji Hebat Dan Terbaik BN Kepada Rakyat Malaysia, kata Musa

TAWAU, 7 April — Ketua Menteri Sabah Datuk Seri Musa Aman menyifatkan manifesto Barisan Nasional (BN) yang dilancarkan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak semalam sebagai aku janji hebat dan terbaik BN  untuk membawa kemakmuran kepada seluruh rakyat Malaysia.

Musa berkata manisfesto berkenaan bersifat menyeluruh dalam memenuhi aspirasi seluruh lapisan masyarakat Malaysia di manapun mereka berada termasuk di Sabah.

“Kita menganggap manifesto BN ini sebagai aku janji kepada seluruh rakyat yang begitu hebat, terbaik yang cukup memberi manfaat kepada seluruh lapisan rakyat, tidak kira di bandar, di luar bandar, orang lama, orang muda, wanita, semuanya tidak tertinggal.

“Ini satu manifesto atau aku janji yang begitu tepat, begitu lengkap yang memberi manfaat kepada kita semua. Saya percaya inilah yang dikehendaki oleh rakyat kerana ia mengambil kira semua lapisan dan semua sektor. Saya percaya rakyat menyambut baik manifesto atau aku janji ini.

“Insya-Allah, dengan ini saya percaya ia akan memberi semangat yang lagi kuat, lagi kukuh untuk mereka terus menyokong parti BN. Mereka (rakyat) tahu bahawa BN di bawah pimpinan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, janji ditepati. Apa yang dijanjikan BN akan kita tepati,” katanya.

Musa yang juga Pengerusi Badan Perhubungan UMNO Sabah dan Pengerusi BN Sabah berkata demikian kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Jerayawara Yayasan Sabah Bersama Rakyat bagi Zon Pantai Timur Selatan di sini hari ini.

Jerayawara itu antara lain bertujuan memberi maklumat kepada rakyat berkaitan aktiviti Yayasan Sabah untuk membangunkan sosioekonomi, mendapat sambutan ribuan penduduk Tawau dan disifatkan Musa sebagai tanda sokongan padu  rakyat terhadap kepimpinan BN di peringkat negeri dan pusat.

Musa meminta rakyat Sabah supaya terus teguh menyokong kerajaan BN kerana di bawah kerajaan BN nasib rakyat akan terus terbela sementara negara sentiasa dalam keadaan sejahtera dan selamat.

Mengulas mengenai cadangan pembinaan lebuh raya dari Semantan di Sarawak hingga ke Serudong di Tawau, Sabah, sepanjang 2,300 kilometer, dalam aku janji BN berkenaan, Musa berkata ia akan memberi impak besar kepada rakyat yang tinggal berhampiran lebuh raya itu.

Katanya infrastruktur asas itu sudah tentu akan mempermudahkan pelbagai lapisan masyarakat seperti petani untuk memasarkan keluaran pertanian mereka.

Musa turut melawat 65 penduduk Kampung Bukit Kukusan yang rumah mereka ranap dirempuh bongkah batu besar yang bergolek dari kawasan kuari di atas bukit, pagi semalam menyebabkan enam penduduk cedera.

Bernama difahamkan kerajaan negeri sudah mengarahkan supaya mangsa yang layak ditempatkan di Projek Perumahan Rakyat Semarak.

Seperti yang kita sedia maklum , Perdana Menteri Najib telah mengumumkan pembubaran parlimen kelmarin. Hal ini mengundang pelbagai reaksi dari pucuk pimpinan masing masing. Ada yang mempersoalkan kredibiliti sesebuah parti yang akan bertanding nanti.

Di sini, barisan komponen BN Sabah-PBS, PBRS, UPKO serta LDP percaya dengan sokongan padu rakyat terhadap BN dan akan terus memangkah nama itu. Mereka menafikan bahawa sokongan tersasar ke arah pembangkang, yang dikatakan hanya memesongkan fikiran rakyat terhadap kerajaan.

Parliamen akan dibubar tidak lama lagi dan rakyat jelata Malaysia akan bersiap sedia untuk menghadapi pilihan raya. Ini mengukuhkan lagi sokongan rakyat dan dalam masa yang sama, memberi impak positif kepada rakyat di seluruh negara.

Dalam era globalisasi ini, banyak perkara telah berubah, begitu juga dengan BN. Kini, Najib semakin giat mempromosikan usaha 1Malaysia nya menerusi laman blog, Facebook serta Twitter peribadinya. Masyarakat kini lebih peka dengan dunia siber, apabila terlancarnya " BN Youth Cyber Team".

Pembangkang yang lantang bersuara hanya mampu melontarkan kata kata kesat, mempamerkan video lucah dan sebagainya. Jadi adakah mereka layak menakluki hati rakyat? Tepuk dada tanya selera.

Intrusion no effect on BN in election – CM

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman believes the people of Sabah have full confidence in the Barisan Nasional government’s handling of the Lahad Datu intrusion and will not affect the coalition’s winning chances in the upcoming election.

“We in Sabah always support the (Barisan Nasional) government because we know very well that we have a government that carries out its responsibility well. And seeing the government’s handling of the current (Lahad Datu) situation, we have full trust and confidence in the government and security forces,” said Musa when asked whether the incident will affect the BN’s chances in the upcoming election.

Speaking to reporters after officiating and flagging off the Himpunan Patriotik Belia Sabah at Lintasan Deasoka here yesterday, Musa slammed the opposition for showing its impotence in regard to the Lahad Datu intrusion incident.

The opposition, he said, only know how to criticize the government and its leaders but have failed to prove their capabilities during times of crisis.

“The opposition, including one irresponsible opposition leader’s accusation about the intrusion being Umno’s masquerade, only know how to condemn the government. But when our country faces challenges like what we are facing now, they remain silent instead of supporting the government’s actions,” Musa commented.

Sabah BN Women gear up for door-to-door ‘marathon’

KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) Women were urged to get themselves mentally and physically ready for the 13th General Election.
BN Women chairperson Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who likened the general election campaign to a marathon, said that since this is the final phase of the preparation for the general election,  all the 20,000 women members in Sabah must be ready to face the opposition.
Speaking to more than 2,000 Sabah BN women at the launch of Sabah BN Women Gelombang Biru election machinery at Likas Sports Complex here yesterday, she said
the campaign requires mental strength as well as physical fitness.
“Even though our intelligence reports show that BN will win the election, we must double our effort because the opposition will double their lies during this time,” she said.
Shahrizat said the 13th general election is a serious business, so it is important for the women election machinery to use their wisdom to tell the voters to vote with common sense, not emotion.
She said opposition parties have been using many tactics, twisting facts, inciting hatred against the government.
“That is why our Jalinan Rakyat machinery will approach voters door to door, as women always do in the previous elections to be closer to voters.
“We have had various campaigns since winning the last general election. We have Skuad Sayang and Salam Sayang, using the word ‘Sayang’ (love) to show that BN is loving the people, not spreading lies,” she said.
In Sabah, Shahrizat said BN Women must give their full support to the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
Meanwhile, Sabah Umno Women chief Datuk Armani Mahiruddin yesterday pledged to ensure the more than 20,000 members of Jalinan Rakyat machinery in the state will work hard for BN victory in the 13th general election.
“I can feel this is the last gathering for the Jalinan Rakyat machinery before the general election, the only election that will determine the life or death of Barisan Nasional,” she said.
“I urge all BN women, particularly in Sabah, to rise to the challenge, to be responsible in the next general election, and not to let down our central leadership who have put their faith in us to campaign for BN,” she said.
Armani, who is also Senate Deputy Speaker, said the political pattern has changed in Malaysia, but a study by the Jalinan Rakyat machinery has shown that BN still has the support of the people.
With 678 polling district centres’ in 25 parliamentary and 60 state constituencies, Armani said BN Women will support whoever are selected as candidates for BN, and will work with them to ensure victory.
She said Jalinan Rakyat machinery will be approaching voters with a door-to-door effort to explain the benefit of voting for BN.
“During our door-to-door campaign, we will also tell the people how the opposition has twisted the facts, spreading lies for personal gain.
“We are confident with the help of Wanita wings of all BN component parties, we will win the 13th general election,” she added.

No issue among the Sabah BN parties: Muhy

NABAWAN: Sabah is developing rapidly under the Barisan Nasional (BN) government and leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Federal level and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman in the State level, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"I can see for myself Sabah has undergone so many changes, its landscape has been transformed," he said, adding that he comes to Sabah so much so that he considered it as his second home.
"I have many leaders and friends here in Sabah ... I feel comfortable," he said at the meet-the-people session at Nabawan in Pensiangan, Saturday.
Muhyiddin said that during his many visits to Sabah, Musa had drawn up programmes that enabled him to go to so many places in the State, including the rural areas.
"There is no issue among the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, the State is peaceful so Sabah has become one of the rapidly growing states in the country," he said.
Towards this end, Muhyiddin who is also Education Minister called on the people here to reject any attempt by the opposition for them to change the government in the coming General Election.
He said the country was not embroiled in a conflict, becoming bankrupt and its people oppressed.
"If the country is not experiencing all this then why should we change?" he asked.
He reiterated his statement that the people must not be hoodwinked by the opposition, particularly its leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who he described as "the biggest liar" in the country.
"(He is) a person who has eyes and ears but refuses to see and listen.
Don't follow this kind of people as they are the biggest liars."
He said the opposition was so obsessed in their goal to conquer Putrajaya and in the hope to get support from the people of Sabah, Anwar readily accepted the title of Huguan Siou.
"I just don't know how he could take the title away from my friend here Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan."
Muhyiddin said he had listened to the request and pleas from Pensiangan MP Tan Sri Joseph Kurup as well as leaders in the constituency for him to help them in a big way.
Smiles were on face of the leaders and more than 10,000 people at the programme when he announced a RM10 million allocation for school repairs in the Pensiangan parliamentary constituency.
"The Barisan Nasional (BN) government is always concerned about the welfare of rural students. We'll make efforts to improve any weaknesses.
"I understand there are many schools in this district, some in good condition and some in need of repairs.
"We will not neglect such schools," he said. He also announced a RM5 million allocation for the construction of a sports and recreation centre in the district.
Muhyiddin hoped for continuous support for the BN government from the people so that more development programmes could be given in order to develop the country.
He said the Bantuan Rakyat 1 Malaysia (BR1M) were among programmes that would be continued if the BN received the mandate from the people.
"Without the BN government, there would be no BR1M. It would be like rejecting a windfall and I don't know what to say to those who reject windfalls," he said.
He advised the people to support BN regardless of who is the candidate in the upcoming General Election because all of them were winnable candidates capable of serving the community.

MCA pledges to assist BN candidate for Penampang

KOTA KINABALU: MCA Penampang chief Datuk Paul Kong has given his division’s pledge to ensure that the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the parliamentary constituency will be victorious in the 13th general election.

Kong, when addressing the audience and invited guests at MCA Penampang’s ‘Majlis Malam Muhibbah Tahun Baru Cina 2013′ at the Lido Commercial Area on Sunday, also expressed hope that the BN leadership will retain incumbent MP, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok.

“Tan Sri Bernard has been very helpful and I give my deepest appreciation as well as gratitude to him for having assisted MCA Penampang financially over the years as our MP. As Tan Sri Bernard has been a good MP for Penampang and always have the rakyat close to his heart, I hope that he would be re-nominated to contest again in the 13th general election.

“MCA Bahagian Penampang will mobilize all its leaders and members to help Tan Sri Bernard retain the seat,” he said.

Kong also reminded the people on the importance of maintaining continuity and urged them to give their full support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak so that he has the opportunity to lead the nation after the election.

“Since becoming Prime Minister in April 2009, Najib has initiated many reforms by introducing the 1Malaysia concept as well as many transformation programs which are seeing good results. By giving him a big mandate, Najib will carry out more and better programs which will greatly help in the achievement of Vision 2020 by making Malaysia a high-income and a developed-status nation by year 2020.

“As for the Chinese community, our best hope is to live a peaceful life, in a prosperous country and a safe society. A change of government may not necessarily bring a better future for us, hence I urge the rakyat to give their full support to the BN government.

“Though it is not perfect, hopefully we can improve by the initiatives and programs initiated by Najib,” he stressed.

Kong also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Datuk T C Goh for generously assisting them by making the venue available for the function.

The ‘Majlis Malam Muhibbah Tahun Baru Cina 2013′ at the Lido Commercial Area was the first of three similar events that MCA Penampang Division has organized in conjunction with the ushering in and celebrating of the Lunar New Year of the Water Snake.

The other events will be held from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on Tuesday, Feb 19 at the Beverly Hill Plaza, Jalan Bundusan and Friday, Feb 22, at the Kepayan Low-Cost Housing Commercial Area (next to Yu Sang Supermarket).

MCA Penampang will also host a Chinese New Year open house from 10am-1 pm on Saturday, Feb 23 at Buhavan Square in Donggongon New Township, he said adding that many state as well as local dignitaries, including federal and state ministers, assistant ministers, elected representatives, leaders of BN component parties and community leaders have been invited to the event.

“We expect to draw a crowd of 2,000 and the main attraction of these four events will be the acrobatic and cultural performances of the troupe from Hunan, China. Ang pows will be given to children and single adults.

“Lunch will be served along with mineral water and mandarin oranges! As all these four events are open to the public, we therefore cordially invite everyone to attend,” he said.

People thankful to BN, PM-Musa

 
Sandakan: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman yesterday distributed a total of RM1 million to 2,000 eligible recipients of the RM500 Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) 2.0 from his Sungai Sibuga constituency in Libaran here.
The distribution at Dewan Sri Libaran, Sungai Kayu, Mile 7, was being done in several phases for the more than 10,000 eligible recipients in the constituency that included new applicants for BR1M and single young people.
About 6,084 people in Sungai Sibuga who received RM500 each during the BR1M 1.0 last year automatically qualified to receive the BR1M 2.0 this year.
Musa, who is Sungai Sibuga Assemblyman, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak decided to announce the second round of BR1M distribution when unveiling the 2013 National Budget because the Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders have told him that it had really touched the hearts of the rakyat.
“The rakyat were really happy after receiving the BR1M last year and so we told him that hopefully if possible that there will be another round.
“Thankfully, the Prime Minister announced the second round of BR1M and not only that he also announced a new category for the young and single people earning less than RM3,000 per month in the National Budget,” he said.
Musa, who is also Finance Minister, said it was clear that the Prime Minister listened to the people and if there was a way to help the rakyat, he would just do it.
And, the Chief Minister also reminded the people here that the programme cost the government billions of ringgit.
Musa added that the people were thankful to the BN government, in particular the Prime Minister, not only for BR1M but many more goodies in this year’s Budget that covered the people all across the board in the country.
“I have always been asked why Sabah continues to be the stronghold for BN and Umno.
“If the government and the Prime Minister are good, the people of Sabah will not have the heart not to vote for BN as we want continuity of the many good programmes that have been introduced by the Prime Minister.
“For the opposition all they have done is the Bersih 1, Bersih 2 … create chaos everywhere, but for the BN government, we have BR1M 1.0 and BR1M 2.0 to help people everywhere,” he said matter-of-factly.
Musa also said the people of Sabah should not be underestimated as they would not hesitate to change if they saw a non-performing government.
“But if the government is good, they know how to reciprocate,” he said.

Pairin expresses gratitude to people for backing BN

Keningau: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan expressed gratitude to the people for supporting Barisan Nasional (BN) which has enabled development to be carried out.

He said their unwavering support has allowed the ruling Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to govern the country well.

"Overall, while we deliver aid from the Government, I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to the people who have been supportive of the Government.

"The Government under our Prime Minister is very attentive to the needs of our community, we really see much favours to the people and he really examines the needs of the people.

"As a result, development and administration patterns which are delivered through us, as local leaders in our respective areas, always recognise the feelings and wishes of the people," he explained.

Pairin, who is also Infrastructure Development Minister, said the gratitude is particularly aimed at the community who have supported and had better understanding about the purpose of government in providing transformation programmes for the betterment of the society.

"This is not only in infrastructure but also in terms of the government vision for the underprivileged in society," he said after handing over the Housing Assistance Programme 2011 house keys to two recipients here, Saturday.

The recipients who come under the needy category were the family of Chua Jok Gee @ Chua Jak Lee and the family of Lo Neo Sin from the Tamu Ground Keningau area.

According to Pairin, who is also Keningau MP, in the context of Malaysia as a country, the Government has always evaluated from the point of issues which need to be settled.

"It is then channelled through a screening discussion to explore how we can remedy a problem that is possible to be overcome in the interest of society and the needs of our state.

"So, of course as political leaders who have been supported by the people over the years, we would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the people in the area.

"Hopefully, by understanding, cooperation, unity and struggle for the community and future generation, these people will support us more so we will be more eager to lead the community in the future," he said.

Dompok: BN is Sabah Christians only hope

Penampang: The Christian community in Sabah and Sarawak must continue to support the present Barisan Nasional (BN) government if they do not want this country to become an Islamic state, said Tan Sri Bernard Dompok.

The Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister and Upko President said there is actually no reason for them to fear the BN going anywhere near what opposition PAS is planning to do when it comes to power.

"But I think the Christian community also recognises the present Government as always trying its best to see that the interests of everybody is looked after É (because) if you look at the alternative, what is it?," he said, when asked to comment on a news portal report quoting a local university researcher that Sabah and Sarawak are no longer a fixed deposit for BN because the Christian community in the two states have risen up against the coalition.

"You know like the 'Allah' issue raised by (DAP) Lim Guan Eng, actually this is already a non-issue," said Dompok, who is also Penampang MP, during the Penampang-level BN annual Chinese New Year walkabout in Lido, Saturday.

The Government has actually solved the said issue by allowing the importation and also reprinting of the Bibles into the State, he said.

"If you are allowed to import then certainly you are allowed to use it Éso it is already a non-issue," he added.

"Of course what happened was that all the opposition got together and said okay you can use the word 'Allah'. But three days later, PAS changed its mind.

"And there was a time when (DAP) Karpal Singh said the Hudud law over his dead body.

But they do not want to respect his body because the next day they said tak boleh (cannot) and that they want to implement it because they have already done so in Kelantan.

"And this is the thing that PAS wants because religion is part of their constitution or their core business," said Dompok.

"So once a party like PAS comes to power, believe me, there is going to be a move towards getting an Islamic state in this country and I think all of us will not want that Ébecause Malaysia was formed on secularism and not as an Islamic state."

He believed this is the reason why the Christian community must support the present Government if it does not want an Islamic state.

"There is no reason for the Christian community to fear the BN going anywhere near what the PAS is going to do.

Musa hopeful people will retain BN

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman is hopeful that the people in Sabah, including civil servants, will make the right decision in the coming 13th general election of choosing a government which can ensure transformation continuity for their own betterment.
While regarding 2013 to be seeing the hottest and toughest general election ever in the country, Musa, who is also Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman, believes that the State's people are mature enough to judge for themselves the development brought about by the BN government.
"From my visits throughout the State, I believe the people appreciate and are grateful for the development taking place and the allocations provided by the Government.
"But as a country that practises democracy, it is up to the people to judge and decide on the Government for the future because whatever change is effected, it is hoped that it is change for the better."
Musa said this at the Federal Government departments and statutory bodies' staff assembly at the Sabah Federal Government Administration Complex, here, Monday.
Also present were Federal Administration Secretary for Sabah, Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan, State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman and heads of federal departments and agencies.
Musa, who is also State Finance Minister, also outlined the contributions and successes of the BN government which used sound approaches and made careful plans such as the Government Transformation Programme and Economic Transformation Programme.
"Our country and State enjoy peace and prosperity. Sabah is rich in natural resources, hence many investors are keen to invest here, with investments reaching RM10 billion while our tourism industry continues to develop," he said.
Musa said the State Government was indeed committed to determining the fate of future generations including by initiating tree replanting projects and using suitable species since 2007.
Admitting that there was no perfect government, he stressed that whatever the Government did was to bring about major and wholesome transformation in various sectors including social development and education for greater development and prosperity.
He said the State Government's achievement was proven when it gained recognition for its sound financial management while several state departments and agencies obtained four-star rating from the National Audit Department.
Musa said the State Government appreciated and thanked the 100,000 federal officers and staff in Sabah and the peninsula for their contributions to Sabah's development, including its rural and remote areas, besides spurring the State's economy through a management expenditure allocation of almost RM7 billion last year.

Opposition only good at carrying tales

SANDAKAN: Opposition parties are only good at carrying tales each time they attempt to touch base with the people.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said the rakyat must realise that they have no concrete ideas or solutions for the people.

“That’s why they carry tales for the people so that they look good. They keep on telling lies after lies just to gain the sympathy of the people.

“Don’t be influenced by these tactics. They come and visit the people in the village and have empty talks,” he said at a meet-the-people session at Kg Nelayan Tengah, Sungai Batang, at Mile 10 here yesterday.

Musa who is Sabah Barisan Nasional and State Umno chief, said the rakyat should turn around and ask the opposition what have they done for them.

“We in BN are giving solutions for the people and solving their woes whether they are in rural areas or elsewhere,” he said.

The people of Sabah are mature enough to differentiate between the opposition and BN parties.

He cited an example of an opposition-ruled state which is now in disarray as the people are seeing for themselves that they have not fulfilled their promises.

“The people in the State have realised that they would be better off if the state is under BN rule,” he said.

Unlike the opposition, the BN government is sighted and committed in providing proper infrastructures for the rakyat.

“We must not gamble our future and the future of our children away. As opposition parties, they cannot do anything other than talking and enjoying wishful thinking,” he said.

Musa said that the people of Sabah must defend the state so that it remains a BN stronghold in the coming elections.

He reiterated that the country is in safe hands and on the mainstream of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who has introduced so many programmes and various types of assistance for Malaysians.

Leong optimistic Sabah Chinese will vote for BN in general election

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Gerakan chief Datuk Gordon Leong is confident that Sabah’s Chinese community would make a wise decision when casting votes in the coming general election.

He said the community would vote with wisdom, and not with emotion or be easily swayed by the opposition’s empty promises.

He said this when asked to comment on a call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Sunday that those in the Chinese community who liked his  leadership should give solid support to Umno and BN, if they wanted him to bring more successes to the nation, via the national transformation programme.

The prime minister said this in a special interview, prior to the 66th Umno General Assembly next week, when asked to comment on remarks by political observers that some quarters in the Chinese community liked Najib’s leadership, but not his party and BN, and were divided over giving support. — Bernama

Better to discuss BN issues than going to press – Musa

KOTA KINABALU: The State Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership is always ready to discuss issues concerning the coalition, and it is better that we discuss the matter among each other rather than going to the press, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said.

“We can have a round table discussion on suggestions and opinions raised by all BN component parties,” he said after launching the annual state level ‘Hari Peladang, Penternak dan Nelayan 2012’ (Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen’s Day) celebration at Tamu KPD in Tanjung Lipat yesterday.

Musa, was asked to comment on the resolution by UPKO Keningau Division annual convention recently calling for the revival of the Chief Minister rotation system.

The division’s chief Datuk Justin Guka said the delegates were of the opinion that there should be a slight amendment to the system to allow the Chief Minister to serve for two terms instead of a single two-year term practised previously.

After the two terms the individual should no longer be eligible to hold office, he said.

The rotation system was introduced by then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed in Sabah as a means to share power among the three main communities in the state, namely the Muslim Bumiputeras, the Christian Bumiputeras and Chinese.

It was introduced when the ruling coalition party, BN, formed the state government despite losing in the 1994 state election.

This occurred due to defections by elected representatives of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), who won the election.

And after a decade, the rotation system was finally scrapped in Mar 2004.

The then prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi surprised many by announcing the end of the rotation, saying all leaders of BN component parties in Sabah had put down in writing their desire to end the system.

Musa, who had another one year tenure under the system, continued as the state’s chief executive by virtue of his position as head of Sabah Umno, the dominant partner in Sabah BN.

Sabah BN ‘sensibly’ confident

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional seems unfazed by the spins spewing out of the political rumour mill and are confident of retaining the state albeit having more opposition faces in the state assembly and losing some parliamentary seats. But that’s alright, says Sekong assemblyman Samsuddin Yahya because Umno BN is ‘overall’ confident about its voters loyalty and will not lose its clout in the upcoming 13th general election. “We are not worried about the Muslim and KDM (KadazanDusunMurut) votes. We are confident. Only the Chinese seats worry us. KK (Kota Kinabalu) is most a difficult seat for us because it is majority Chinese,” he told FMT recently. He was alluding to the widespread reports that the opposition was making damaging inroads into the Muslim and KDM communities in the state and that the state BN could lose up to 20 parliamentary seats in the next election. Samsuddin’s Sekong constituency comprises both these communities and some Chinese. Sekong and Karamunsing sectors come under BN-Parti Bersatu Sabah held Batu Sapi parliamentary constituency. The Batu Sapi parliamentary constituency is adjacent to Sandakan bordering Libaran and Kinabatangan. Sandakan is a pipeline of BN loyalists. In the 2010 Batu Sapi by-election, BN won the seat by a 6,359 vote majority. PBS rode on Umno’s support against a divided opposition. BN-PBS candidate Linda Tsen faced off with PKR’s Ansari Abdullah and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Yong Teck Lee. At that time SAPP was attempting an alliance with Pakatan Rakyat but seat allocations was always the issue. BN, said Samsuddin, is confident of retaining the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat this time round. And again local observers add, it will be because the opposition coalition is still divided. For reasons best known to the local political circles here, SAPP can’t seem to gel with the opposition parties, all of whom are clamouring to lead the people into the next general election. No group seem to want SAPP.

BN will remain in power - Ahmad Maslan

KOTA KINABALU (June 17, 2012): Umno Information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan is confident that Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to be in power after the 13th General Election.


Ahmad Maslan, who is also deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, rejected the notion that BN would be toppled in the coming general election, based on feedback received.


"We are not theorising in an air-conditioned room. We actually meet the people and clearly the people are very happy with the government policies.


"The people get subsidies, get financial aid, jobs, houses and live in peace. There is no reason why the people want to change the government," he told reporters after a function, near here, today.
He also rejected rumours that the people's representatives, especially among Sabah BN leaders, would be jumping ship, due to the increasingly shaky position of BN.


"It is absurd. The opposition only knows how to play on sentiments. They use psychological warfare, purportedly they can rule Malaysia. But clearly they are lying and their leaders only know how to blow empty promises," he added. – Bernama
