TAWAU, May 11 (Bernama) -- Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has never
imposed any charge for inspection and replacement of domestic
electricity meters by its staff.
Its senior general manager (Asset Management) Ahmad Fuad Md Kasim also said SESB had never appointed any individual to carry out such works.
He cautioned the public against being duped by a man claiming to be an SESB technician who approached residents to solicit payment for electricity meter replacement.
"The suspect wears a shirt with our logo. He would also produce a (pink-coloured) notice for outstanding bill," he said in a statement here today.
He said the latest report lodged against the man was from Bandar Tawau Lama on May 8.
"Our staff are not allowed to collect any payment on behalf of the company. Payment for any SESB services should only be made at its designated counters," he said, advising consumers to lodge a police report if they were approached by the individual.
