BEAUFORT: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman has pledged to continue to develop Beaufort and be on par with other districts.

He said Beaufort, which is still a Barisan Nasional (BN) stronghold, should not be neglected so that the people would continue to enjoy the benefits of development.

The State government, with the assistance of Beaufort Umno Youth, would ensure Beaufort and the surrounding areas, such as Klias and Kuala Penyu, Sipitang and Sindumin were not left out in development, he said when launching the Beaufort 3 “Belia Gegar” carnival and NR Fan Club organised by Beaufort Umno Youth here yesterday.

Musa, who is State Umno chief, said the people of Sabah should not sacrifice their future for the sake of certain leaders with vested interests.

He believed the Sabah people are wise enough and would not be easily influenced by the opposition leaders.

In urging the youths to participate in the country’s development process, particularly in Beaufort, Musa assured them that the government has always been and will be focusing on them.

He said that in the recent state budget announcement, he has allocated RM300 million through various ministries for youth development.

He said he believed that youth is very a important asset of the country and they can accomplish big achievements if they work together.

Musa said, the youths in the district might be “at a crossroad” now in choosing between going forward and going backward because the opposition has confused them with their empty promises, unlike BN which keeps and delivers their promises.

“All the leaders here have been working hard day and night to ensure Beaufort including Klias, Kuala Penyu, and Sipitang continue to progress. Therefore we should work together to ensure development will happen, and not to be deceived by the opposition’s lies,” he said.

Also present were Klias assemblywoman, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun, Lumadan assemblyman, Datuk Kamarlin Ombi, Kuala Penyu assemblyman, John Teo Mau Sing, and Beaufort Umno Youth Chief Mohd Ishak Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, Beaufort Umno Youth chief and organising chairman, Mohd Ishak Ibrahim, said the carnival was held as a manifestation of the government’s recognition for youths’ contributions in the country’s development.
