Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is offering special fares to Malaysians who
want to fly to their hometowns to cast their ballots in the May 5
general election.
The national airline said bookings on business and economy class may
be made from today until April 28 for travel from April 18 to November
30 this year as part of its 13th general election special fares.
It said all-inclusive return economy class tickets from Kuala Lumpur
to Alor Setar, Penang, Terengganu, Kuantan, Kota Baru, Johor Baru and
Langkawi start from RM130 while airfares on business class are from
RM713 for an all-inclusive return.
The fares for those from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Labuan,
Tawau, Miri, Sibu, Sandakan, Bintulu and Kuching on economy or business
class go for as low as RM300 and RM1,713 all-inclusive return,
respectively.
The flag carrier said Malaysians can also fly from Kuching to Kota
Kinabalu, Miri, Bintulu or Sibu from as low as RM76 all-inclusive return
on economy class and from RM1,513 on business class.
Flights from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau, Labuan and Sandakan start from
RM136 all-inclusive return on economy class and from RM1,713 on business
class, it added.
MAS also said it will waive penalty charges up to July 31 for guests
booked on flights between April 27 and May 12 but who wish to defer
their travel for GE13.
“We are probably the only airline to allow our passengers to revise
their travel plans for the general elections therefore we hope that they
can take advantage of this offer,” Malaysia Airlines Group CEO Ahmad
Jauhari Yahya said in the statement.
“With the special fares and new cabin baggage policy in place, guests
can easily plan a day trip back home to vote,” Ahmad Jauhari added.
Those who want to book the flights can do so through
malaysiaairlines.com, Malaysia Airlines’ 24-hour toll-free Call Centre
at 1-300-88-3000 and its ticket offices nationwide.
